  1. Just got a Canopus ADVC100 today and all my dropped frames problems are gone forever! I just returned a Pyro A/V Link that dropped frames like crazy (using the same footage as the Canopus). I tried 3 different S-VHS VCRs, different s-video cables, composite cables, firewire cables, firewire cards, a Sima Copymaster, Vegas, DVIO, Ulead Videostudio, Virtualdub, ATI AIW 8500DV, new drivers, old drivers, new chipset drivers, disabling hardware, system restore, defragging all 4 of my hard drives, capturing to all 4 hard drives, and every other friggin' thing I could come up with. Absolutely nothing worked! My next step was to use Norton Ghost to revert back to the day I installed Windows and try to capture on a fresh Windows install to see if it made any difference. Luckily the Canopus showed up today and I have NO FRAME DROP ISSUES WHATSOEVER (doing a little dance). If anyone is about to blow up their pc due to frustrating frame drops you may want to check this Canopus bugger out!!!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

the dropped frames appear when the tape as a lot of noise

it seems that some software (for capture) "blocks" the cards an all problems appears

YngwieJM, I totally understand and share your joy!!!

I struggled for about 3 weeks trying to make the Dazzle DVC-80 work. I tried everything in the world and I couldn't get it to work right: dropped frames, lousy picture, audio sync probs, etc.

I read about the ADVC-100 here at dvdrhelp.com and ordered it. That was the end of my capturing problems. I have never had one single dropped frame or audio sync problem since and the picture quality is great.

I am as happy about this little gadget as you are!
