  1. I downloaded a region free utility from http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82927. I clicked on disable to make my dvd rom drive region free and when i go to the properties of my dvd-rom it saids region not selected, does this mean its region free?

And, before i used the tool is said i had four changes remaining but now saids two changes remaining even though i try to reset the changes with the tool. Can anyone help?

  2. IT's more complicated than you think, you also have to change the firmware of your DVD-ROM to a region-free one. See www.rpc1.org for more help on how to this.

  4. I updated my windows xp recently to the service pack 1 and now in properties the region remaining doesn't show. I think there was a problem in windows, it was really region free but it didn't recognize it, now it does.

I also use dvdidle pro or anydvd in conjuction with this but i was wondering why would u need to make your drive region free when u also need those tools as well, wouldn't it make sense to just use the programs? Maybe it just looks better when it's region free, maybe thats why i did it. lol
