    Hi
I have had afew dvd files that were in ntsc format and i burnt them and played them back on my Phillips dvd player which is pal.
But the playback is jerky and i am lost for answers, the dvd player will play anything put in it so i know its not that.
So what i am thinking is that would it affect the playback if it was ntsc in a pal player
    cheers

I was wondering about that also. I want to send a DVD to a friend in Denmark using video from a NTSC camcorder and Ulead's MovieFactory, which only lets me create a NTSC DVD. Do some players play PAL and NTSC and others don't? Will my friend have to search around with all of his friends until he can find a player that will work?

Can someone out there help us out?

    Thanks, Tux

  3. Hi,

If you have a NTSC disc and play it back on a dvd player that is setup
for PAL the player will convert the output to PAL, and due to the difference in framerates/resolution etc, the output will not be 100% smooth.

If your TV supports NTSC input then try going into your dvd player setup
and changing the system setting to either multi or NTSC, then the player will output without any conversion.

note:- not all dvd players can convert the system type but most in UK do,
and not all Tv's are multi standard but again alot of the sets sold in the UK
are. just try changing your dvd players setup, if you get a smooth playing colour picture your Tv is ok, if its black/white is PAL only.
