  1. ok so i bought my new DVD-R a few days ago, everything so far seems to be going great.

but now i want to put my divx(avi format films) onto dvd, i know i need to convert it to MPEG2 to then author it into VOB files etc.

but what is the fastest encoder out there (iam using tmpgenc) its taking 7hrs (no idea why my machine is brand new has the best specs etc)
maybe iam doing something wrong but how can i cut this down to 3-4 hrs

I have heard CCE is pretty fast, but the full version is quite pricey. The stripped down version is faster than TMPGEnc , but does not have as many functions.

So, the best bet, in my opinion, is to use the TMPGEnc Preview function to check for settings integrity, and recording short sample videos to ensure quality. Then encode the full video when it meets your standards.

What settings are you using for Tmpgenc? it does take time to convert using Tmpgenc , but quality takes time.

i author dvd using Tmpgenc DVD author. simple to use. others will recommend using it or dvd-lab. lots of choices, several have free trial for you to test it out.

Since you want to Convert, go to the Convert section at left for a good guide for TMPGEnc.
