Reading through the threads here, I'm a little at a loss to answer a question that has come up with the new PC.

It's a Media Center PC laptop, which means it has a built-in Firewire port, and has a module that has TV inputs. Supposedly with the module docked into the laptop, I could capture from the RCA cable directly.

In my current mode, when I want to capture a TV program rather than a home video, I use my Canopus ADVC 100 which gets it's input from my Tivo via the traditional RCA 3-head (yellow, red, white) cable and then gives me a DV capture to the PC.

With the Media Center setup, I could conceivably connect the same cable to the module. Considering the input source, and playback that will be to a computer screen about half of the time, and to a TV through an S-Video video out connection the other half, would I be better off going with the slightly more direct capture? The internal video is an NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 to the extent that would color your advice.

Thanks,
Ewan
