  1. Linked into another problem I'm having with reading a DVD on a Toshiba SD330E
I cannot read disc in windows although nero identifies the DVD as UDF(Mode 1) format with 1 track of data. I have tried installing a UDF reader but it made no difference.
Strangely the DVD can be read by my friends 'Time' machime DVD rewriter and also his standalone DVD player.
DVD writer is a Freecom badged NEC1300A with freecom v1.31 firmware.
Standalone is Toshiba SD330E and as mentioned in previous thread disc plays but is black and white and you get two images at top of screen with blank lower half.
Have I just bought the worst combination of drives?
I read forums on here and thought the Toshiba was going to be my best option.
HELP I'm pulling my hair out. and as the disc I'm trying is a copy I cant exactly run to the manufacturer. Disc is a R1 while player is multi region, Freccom unit is Region 2.

Running windows 98 isn't helping you (no native support).

I assume you are trying to copy a movie? You mention region 1 and region 2. If you DVD drive is the wrong region, generally speaking, it won't read the disk. It's a hardware/firmware issue.

Can DVDDecryptor access the disk or not? You may need to region patch your machine to get access to the disk(this can be done in software).

  3. Thanks for the reply. I have now managed to get to see the files on the DVD, I downloaded the latest version of Nero's UDF reader. I am now copying files off the disc and will use DVD video option to burn to a new DVD disc. I believe the difference is that Nero will now burn it in ISO format, hopefully that will then allow it to work with my Toshiba SD330.
I am using Windows XP, not 98.
My PC DVD (Freecom NEC1300A) is Region 2 and has a limited number of allowed changes so I do not want to touch that.
My standalone Toshiba SD330E is multi-region - although I have never actually tried a proper R1 disc as yet, only had the Toshiba 1 week.

    Thanks for the help
