Sounds like you have not added any data to be burned. So nero verifies that no error occured.
before you click burn the window should show folders/files selected/added to templete for burning -
You are burning and not just simulating arnt you ?

The same exact thing happened to me on my office machine at work. At that time I had no Admistrative Power so I could not do anything about it. After demanding that I be given the "Admin powers", I proceeded to un-instal it and removed all instances of NERO from the registry. Re-Installed for scratch and low and behold, it's be working perfectly ever since.

Its easy to get burning software set to just 'test only'. It might look like its really burning when its only testing the project. At the end of the test the blank DVD will be uneffected.
It sounds like this is what's going on.
As far as your profile goes, just edit it. Not hard to do.
Good luck. -
Burn a disk about half full and then look at the surface of the disk. You will be able to tell if its burning or not.
