  1. I just have a fast question. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if this is just how it is.

I had 2 files that where .bin/.cue files(svcd). I used vcdgear to change them both into mpeg files.
Then used "mpeg tools/mearge/cut" in TMPGEnc-2.01.30.116 to join them into 1 file.
    File was about 1.2gigs.

But here comes the part that I don't understand. I then used main concept mpeg encoder to encode to a ntsc dvd.

The file size goes up to 5-6 gigs. Why? I mean it dont fit on a normal dvdr. Then if i try to use dvd shrink i get some "vob error" and dvd shrink can't do it.

    Any help for me??

  2. I have one thing to say about that. "bitrate"

What was the bitrate of the original files, and what bitrate did you reencode those files to?

Answer my two questions and you will answer your questions also.

    Good luck.

It sounds like you converted your fairly low bitrate SVCD to a high bitrate DVD. Bitrate (Kb/s) multiplied by the length (seconds) of the clip determines the file size. Simply reconvert at a lower bitrate this time.

Suggestion: Don't convert your 480x480 SVCD to full 720x480 DVD, try 352x480. Going up in resolution creates blockiness and you can use a lower bitrate with what is called 1/2 D1 resolution. You'll probably be able to get two movies on a DVD that way, using the appropriate bitrate of course.
