Hi guys,
What is the difference between these two methods:
a. change DVD+R to DVD-ROM with a utility (like "booktype" for liteon drives or "dvdrinfopro" for ricoh, ben-q, etc drives)
b. write the disk with nero "dvd-rom" mode (and not with the dvd-video mode) ?
thanks

Nothing.. either method will produce the same result. However, DVDInfoPro has an option to set the drive default booktype whereas Nero can only set the current media's booktype.

Your (a) is for bitsetting.
Your (b) if you mean DVD-rom iso mode has nothing to do with bitsetting. It's simply identifying a data write mode with certain presets which is really no different than Video-DVD except that the latter creates the video_ts and audio_ts folders for you and contains some video checking functions etc...
There is a way to expose bitsetting in Nero (not dual format drives) and that's with the "recorder and medium-info" menu options.
"edited in"
Applies to Nero vs 5.5.10.15 and up only -

BITSETTING:
Use DVDInfoPRO (or Nero or the manufacturer's tool) to change the booktype of DVD+R/RW disks. -
Thank you all for your reply.
I saw some guides explaining how to burn movies in dvd-rom (iso/udf) mode with nero (instead of dvd-video mode) and i was wondering what is the purpose of that....? I thought it was supposed to make dvd+r disks playable in players that only play dvd-r and dvd-rom disks (something like bit-setting do)
Thanks again! -
