I am new so I hope I am posting in the right area. I have burned a lot of DVD+R Discs and am about to pull my hair out. I Love my camcorder, Sony vx 2000. I burn with a sony DRU-510A. They work fine on my DVD stand alone sony SLV-D300P DVD player in warm Weather. Cold weather and every disc will freeze or skip. What gives? I use pinnacle studio 8.

After further testing it looks like the problem can be summed up in 2 letters. +R. I finally made my stubborn self try the DVD-R format and low & behold, success. After all I have read I thought +R was gonna be the ticket, & I think it will be the future, but compatability brings smiles.

  5. I also own a slvd300p sony dvd all format standalone player. If you read the reviews on this player, it without a doubt has some issues. When I burn using a iomega super dvd burner I was getting a video that would play but skipped in some areas of the movie. What I found was that if I burned at a slow speed 1x, and used the automatic setting in Nero Vision Express, the movie was more consistent.

It was the sony dvd player causing the prob.
Thanks. They make great camcorders but lousy dvd players

  7. I can not say (Knock wood, not that I'm superstitious of course) that My Sony products have been anything but excellent. My Sony DRU-500a and 510a worked till I stupidly killed one of them. Alwaysa gave good burns on all the DVD media I fed them, I wish my Pioneer & LiteOn burners were so solid.

No problems yet with my 5 disk & 400 disk DVD Changers from Sony. I play +R & -R with no problems. VCD OK. No SVCD unless I author with TDA, by patching the headers as DVD, add the svcd, unpatch and burn the DVD, then they play Ok, same with 544 by 480 DVB mpg2s they play fine too Actually as a test 320 by 240 worked when authored as a DVD too. Sony 8mm Camcorder works despite being stored in the attic , battery went bad from sitting. Sony TV. Only gripe is the Sony changers will only play NTSC so I also have a region free Apex 3 disc changer and a single disk Apex for PAL DVDs.

In summation Sony equipment has treated me right.
