We bought a Standalone DVD recorder a while back and started converting all of our family tapes to dvd to save the qualtiy of them. Now we got a computer dvd burner and Vegas Video to edit stuff, Now i want to edit home movies but trying to rip the dvd down with things like dvd shrink and virtual dub mod or whatever we tried, like even DVD to Avi converter... its just very painful. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or help to tell me how they would dump a dvd to their editing software to edit it and dump back out to another dvd when finished, I can get around everything but turning those VOB files into something like decent sized AVI's. Anyone know anything? Thanks a whole lot!

If you have Virtual Dub mod, just load your VOB directly from the DVD into it. Then save them as regular AVIs. That should get you unstuck for a time.
