  1. I'm download fast and the furious right now. But I didn't know that it was an .avi file. So, since I'm almost done, i want to know how to convert it to a .mpg file. I don't want to use VirtualDub. Is there an easier way?

In the "how to" Guide on this website you'll find quite a few ways to convert your avi to mpg. Just choose before if you are making an mpeg1 or mpeg2.

  3. I'm sorta a newbie. I don't know what's the difference with mpeg1 or mpeg2. Tell me what you prefer for a VCD.

For a standard VCD you will always need mpeg1. SVCD use the mpeg2 format.

    You will need this Guide:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/convert.htm

most software is downloadable from the tools section of the same website.

Look for ENCODER, one of the best is TMPGEnc, it is free and most peoples of the forum use it, so you'll ever find one, when you have a question.
I suggest that you read the guide carefully. Don't expect that you can figure out that stuff in few minutes. Feel free to ask again.

I think the easiest will be to use TMPGEnc. Download the program TMPGEnc and the VFAPI plugin - install both and start.

You will be using a template called VCD Template - if you're in the US (VCD NTSC template should be used).

Better still print the guide out and do it step for step.

You'll get the VFAPI plugin at the same site where you got the TMPGEnc program. I thought you were going to convert an avi to mpg? What has ripping a DVD got to do with this now? Can't quite follow you.

  17. Well, nowon is replying to my post, so I'll write here. I have the same problem weelblur(I wonder where you got yours ). If your read in my post, I can't get a VCD to work, I am using EZ CD Creator 5 Platinum. It says the System Clock Reference won't work with a VCD player. The System Clock Reference is 1230, but I have no idea how to change it. I burnt it anyway and it didn't work with my Standalone DVD. I really want to watch it in my living room, not my cheap computer chair that is as comfortable as looking at a VW Bug(not good)

    Please help!

  23. EZ CD Creator 5, it says it won't play. I'm pretty sure I did everything right. It's a DIVX avi. What quality should I use, and should I put it in VCD(NTSC)?

As I don't have EZ CD Creator I have no idea how the software works. Am I right in thinking that yuo want to make something play on your standalone DVD player and you have a DIVX avi file?
