Adding A Hard Drive?

Hi!

I just got a new hard drive for Christmas-a Maxtor 160GB Ultra ATA/133.

I have just put it in (As a slave) then installed the software that came with the drive-but when I check the space on the new drive it only detects 31.4 GB? I also checked the BIOS and it is set to Auto..

Is there anyone out there familar with this sort of problem and can tell me how I can get it to recognize the full 160GB.....?

A bit more info is needed.
Like what o/s are you using? how old is your system, motherboard etc ?
Sounds a lot liike you havent formated the whole disk and have only created one partition of 31.4 gig.
If you are running XP then...
Start/Control Panel/Administtrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Magement...
Will bring up a list of your drives and you will be able to format the rest of the drive from there. Or even delete the partition and start again.
