I was thinking of the ATI AIW Pro. Is this a good card? From my understanding it can do real time MPEG2 compression, but I would also like to do SVCD in real time, but I'm not sure this board can do that.
I would like to record TV shows, edit out the commercials and then save it onto SVCD.

I use an ATI AIW Radeon. I have been happy with it. It should be noted that, while it does support real-time MPEG and MPEG-2 captures, it does not have a hardware encoder on it. I have a 1Ghz PIII and it eats well over half of my CPU during captures.
I capture at 7.5K, MPEG-1 I-Frames at 640x480 and encode to VCD with TMPGEnc. This method works well for me and I do not have any frame loss or sync problems. However, if I try to do my initial capture using standard MPEG (instead of I-Frame only), I get considerable frame loss due to my CPU not being fast enough. While I am capturing, I have to leave the computer alone. I cannot be encoding in the background, even at low priority or I will get frame loss.
