    Hi
I Need some advise i have bought a new dvd writer about 3 weeks ago
and bought some"cheap" DVD+R's and copyied some of my discs onto the hard drive but the resulting dvds played back very bad jumping all the time,so i changed from nero to copytodvd but still the same.
So i bought some decent DVD-R's today(RITEKGO4) and burned a film with copytodvd at the slowest speed but it was about the same.
I know it's not a compatibilty issue cause the players i have tried them on work fine with any format, also the original vob files on the hd are ok aswell
Does any body have any ideas
    cheers
    steve

I don't quite understand. What exactly are the DVD's playing badly in?....your computer or a DVD Player?

    1) Disable anything that may be running in the background as you are burning or processing the video data. Screen savers? SETI? Virus Scan? Even if u have a lightning fast processor and a GIG of RAM, the burner needs to be running by itself.

    2) How much RAM do u have? If u have less than say.....256mb, yer more likely to have problems. Burning does best with lotsa RAM.

    3) Don't touch your puter when processing dvd data or while burning. Don't even move the mouse. Some systems are very touchy, while on others you can play a 3D game or surf the web whilst you burn. Assume yours is the first kind.

    4) Even if your burner is new, you may need to clean the lens anyway. The very first DVD u put in it may have left something on the lens.

    5) If your burner is dual format, try the other format.

    6) Accept that your burner is defective. Return it and buy a different brand.

    My 2 cents

  5. Ok, I see that this player will play both NTSC and PAL disks. If this function wasn't working quite right it might act like you are explaining.

Were your original DVDs PAL or NTSC?

    We need more input..... ok

    Good luck.

    Hi
cheers for the reply. everything was in PAL
yeah i've not got the best computer.
i have only got 500mhz athlon proccesor and 256mb ram
it was just under the minimum requirements the writer needed
but i have succesfully copyied some of my discs but all of them were onto some DVD+RW discs i bought
looks like i'll have to buy a new system cant upgrade the cpu anymore its at its max
    cheers anyway
