  1. Can someone tell me what this is? Do I increase or decrease I.e. go from 64 to 32 or lower or the other direction to 128 or higher? My first VCD worked i.e. burned the VCD and could see all my files using my DVD player/TV combination. Same data set subsequently and I'm getting "Write data failed; Writing failed - buffer under run? using generic-mmc @ either 2x or 4x. Help appreciated.

A buffer underrun is when the computer cannot supply the info fast enough to the writer. To fix this you want to decrease your burning speed and/or close all programs that would be slowing down your computer.

  4. A couple of additional tips ...

    1. Make sure your HDD and Burner are on separate IDE channels (or cables). It is preferred that the burner be Master on IDE2.

    2. Make sure that ithe Burner is jumpered and setup in BIOS and Windows as a DMA or UDMA device.

  5. BMR Dad,

without more details I can only guess that perhaps
you are using VCDEasy to burn your vcd? If you have
a modern burner there is an option called "burnproof or justlink"
that when activated can prevent buffer underrun errors. There
is a check box to activate this in the VCDEasy options.

If you are using VCDEasy, then repost your question to
the VCDEasy forum and remember to include:

    - name and speed of burner
    - computer type & speed
    - a step by step overview of what you did to get this error.
