This is not a software or OS problem.

  2. I guess it's Nero Check that must be part of InCD - packet writing software. Very bad!!! Get rid of any packet writing software on your computer. Especially if you have installed 2 of them e.g. from Ahead and/or Roxio and/or Pinnacle.

I'm going to echo that, close down INcd. Very bad for DVD burning.

You can uncheck "nero check" and "microsoft office" also. You don't need them.

    My start up is:

    Nvideo control panel - RUNDLL32
    Mixer (sound)

I also have several services disabled but my PC is tweaked to the gills for video editing and rendering.

You can also check Task Manager and close them down manually, it's a good idea to check TM anyway, for example, I have MSN disabled in my start up but it still starts up (I just haven't gotten around to editing my registry yet) and if I close it in the system tray it will still be running in my task manager.

In any event happy to hear you are burning again.

  4. To All,

    SUCCESS!!

I just burned a 4x DVD to my DVR-105 via a new OS partition on my HD (I needed to do this anyway for other reasons, so I bit the bullet -- yes, the dreaded OS reinstall). I could tell it was going to work when EZCD Creator came up and went right to a 4x DVD option for the burn. It didn't do that before. In fact, the firmware update probably wasn't needed since the Ritek G04 blanks worked several months ago before the problems occurred. (I'm using EZCD Creator right now because it is so simple -- at least the human interface is.)

So that answers the question once and for all about my DVR-105 hardware. It is fine as I suspected. The firmware update was flawless as I thought (since it was working in every way just as before the re-flash).

The culprit is positively the OS and nasty software conflicts as so many of you are pointing out.

Now to try out some of the DVD authoring software and learn DVDDecrypter (thanks for the info on that Coopervid).

  5. Well I actually formatted and reinstalled WinXP over the weekend. After installation I installed just DVDdecryptor. Took on of my already burned DVD's and made an image and then tried to burn it with a Sony RW disc. Same errors as before. I am going to try with a new IDE cable but I think mine is a hardware issue. I contiuelly get the same errors as my previous post.

  6. Don't use EZCD with XP because XP already uses EZCD & you just overwrite files that XP needs with very weird results.... This is already explained in the System Software Compatiblity Checker, which you always run before installing an OS...
I hear that EZCD 6 is okay but who knows. Also use Restore before reinstalling OS.

I no its been a while since this topic first came up but ive had my pioneer 105 for about 2 years and burnt over 2000 dvds and i am only just gettin this problem. I noticed some of you mentioned ritec dvds and coincedentaly i have only just started using them when the problem started. i bought a spindle of 100 and the last 10 would not burn so i thought it might have been a couple of dodgy discs so i went and bought 100 of my usual and now they do the same. sometimes i get lucky and 1 or 2 will burn so i tried the 10 that were dodgy and guess what they have now been exepted and burned to sucesfully. I have never had this problem before is it just my dvd burner saying goodbye or has someone a good solution.ps i have read all the above and no luck, it still rips dvds and plays the origanals but doesnt like dvdr's anymore and i still use the same software that ive never ever had a problem with.has anyone else made a new os partician and can they tell me how as im thick. thanks
