I've heard that cheap DVD players overheat very quickly and cause the DVD to skip and pause. I have these problems, so I guess my DVD player is cheap....LOL

So what are some ways I can cool down my DVD player? What are some of the things that you have tried and have they worked?

.....prolly wouldn't want to spend money on it....so can't add some crazy cooling fans or anything....haha

  2. Your DVD disks wouldn't by any chance be dirty, scratched, or labeled would they. Any of these things can cause that too. Low quality or defective media can too.

How hot do your disks get when they are doing all that skipping and pausing?

    Good luck.

Nope. Their not dirty at all. Most of them are straight out of the box when I bought them.

When I take them out they don't feel really hot, not even as hot as CDs cmoing out of a computer. But when I touch the top of my DVD player it feels hot...so it may or may not be overheating....

  4. Before you go hacking up the case/top of your DVD, try just removing the case/top and running it for a while to see if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away with the case off, then adding a small, thin and QUIET computer video cooling fan or CPU fan (40, or 70mm) may help.

The difficult part is cutting the hole (Dermel is the way to go) and finding/soldering into a 12v power point as required for most fans.

Also -- You may also try just venting the top of the case with a series of small holes. Convection cooling (allowing heat to rise and dissipate) may work and is totally silent.
