Well, it seems you've done most stuff according to the book. This leads me to believe the AVI is really f*cked up, or your system is. That's the only 2 constants left. Let's hope it's the AVI. Try another AVI. If you succeed with that, take this stubborn AVI and drag it over to the recycle bin.

With the help of Ripper 2860, I found and fixed my problem of jerky video and garbled audio. It was not the encoding and authoring. MyHD I was using to send files to was running in PIO mode, instead of ultra DMA mode 5. Thanks to everyone Foz
