Hard Drive and RAM questions?

I just installed a 160gb hard drive and it came with a ATA/133 PCI card. I hooked it up using the PCI card and I was just wondering if there is any difference in using a PCI card or not? (I do have Windows XP SP1)

Also does anyone know what the difference is with RDRAM that has 8 device channels and one that has 4?

There shouldn't be any difference in using the PCI card.

If you where not to use the IDE PCI card you must make sure that your computer supports 48-bit adressing (HDs over 137gb). This would be a feature of your motherboard. If your PC doesnt support 48bit adressing there is a possiblty that the PC will run the HD but you will most definity run into problems further down the road, such as data lost and all kinda of unfun stuff like that.
