  1. Hi,

I have some DV clips captured in AVI format (using Roxio Easy CD & DVD creator 6). I imported the AVI file (Select Source File) into Tmpgenc 2.53, using the Wizard for DVD NTSC.

When "source range" is selected to allow me select the range of frames for conversion, I noticed that in all frames that have motion in them (either the camera was moving or the objects in the scene were moving), the outline of the moving objects looked extremely jaggy. When encoded with CBR 8000, I see these jaggies (turned into noticeable streaks) in the final mpeg-2 as well.

I do not see this jagginess in the AVI files which show the moving objects with blurry outline (which is expected).

Any idea why this occurs? Am I missing some controls to be set in Tmpgenc to avoid this? Any help appreciated.

    thanks

    Hi uram,

I've seen mention of this before in another topic I was involved in but, unfortunately, no answers were posted specifically for that problem.

I used this guide to refine the settings in TMPGEnc when I first set out to make a DVD from DV AVI, and found it very useful. It may help. Failing that, you may find it a good reference anyway:

Secondly, there's a wealth of information in the guides and in the forums. I think you're gonna have to do a lot of searching and reading.

    Good luck...

Interlacing. It shouldn't be visible on your telly, but you could try some of TMPGEncs deinterlace filters.

  4. These are interlace lines. They will show on the PC, no biggie.

It becomes a potential issue when the video is played on a TV. If after you burn your video, you get shaky video on your TV, then the field order during the encoding process was incorrect. Switch the field order and all should be well.

If the video plays on the TV properly, then you're good to go.
