Inexplicably, I haven't yet found a way of simply making an .ISO file out of files I specify from my hard drive. Nothing seems to have this capability.

Why not simply burn the files like normal rather than making the .ISO first? Simple: For whatever reason, Recordnow Max absolutely REFUSES to burn any filenames that have Japanese text in them. And those are the sorts of files I want to burn. But I reckon it won't complain about the file contents if I throw a pre-made .ISO file at it. (Yes, it still refuses even if I tell it that 120-character non-ascii filenames are okay. In fact, the software fails to display the text properly, even when Windows itself has no problem doing so.)

So, to reiterate, I need to know what software to use (preferably something free) to make a plain old DVD-R .ISO file. Something that WON'T choke on filenames with Japanese text. Anyone think they know of such an app?

    IFO Edit ?

It makes .img files....but those react and burn the same as an .iso file.....at least for me when I burn with DVDDecrypter.

    How about this.

Download a freeware file renaming program from www.download.com .

There are several out there that will batch rename entire directories full of files. Then, drag and drop yer files onto your DVDr using yer RecordNow. Please don't say *But I want to keep the names unchanged* , cuz I'll say...horse hooey. File names are unimportant, unless there is something linking to them.

    Problem solved.
