problems reading copied dvd-r

I recently purchased a Lg GSA 4040B. I am using anydvd with D.C.S. (Dvd Copy Suite) to make backups of my dvd collection. The promblem I'm having is I can burn a copy of my dvd using Verbatim dvd-r 2.4X and it will play on my Sony dvd player (DVP-S560D) but it will will not work in either of my dvd drives on my computer. My second drive is a Lg DRD8160B. When I try to play the dvd-r in either dvd drive it is not picked up by the drive. I am using powerdvd xp and windvd 5 as players. The original dvd works fine in both drives using either player. Any insight on this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks for the response. It turns out that the drive itself was faulty
