  1. I bought a RCA DRC8000N Recorder about a month ago and have been transfering my Home VHS movies over to DVD. Worked great for all of them (about 50). Today I tried copying a MiniDV tape over to DVD via the front RCA jacks on the recorder and the video played through the recorder and onto the TV I have attached. When I tried recording on a RW+, worked fine. Then I tried a R+ and nothing..coaster..tried another R+ disc and same thing...coaster. It is a brand new spindle of R+ (memorex which is what I've used all along) so I thought maybe I got a bad batch and tried burning a movie off my PC using Nero onto a R+ disc with my NEC DVD Writer Drive. Worked great.

Anyone got any ideas? I'll try another DVD R+ as soon as Walmart opens and I can get more...

  2. When you say "coaster," did you get an error message? Did it record fine but couldn't be played back on a DVD player? Did you finalize the DVD+R?

  3. the DRC8000N just sits there after you hit STOp to end the recording. Then when I can finally get the DCD+R out, nothing will read it. I have since tried another brand of DVD+R and had no problem. I'll be returning the partial spindle to Walmart today and stick to the RCA Recommended brands of which Memorex is not one.

The DVD+Rs ar labeled as 4X but Nero only shows them as 2.4X so my guess is it is a bad batch of discs. I've used Memorex before and had no problem.

    Thanks

  4. Glad to hear that your problem has been solved.

Incidentally, which brand worked for you?

  5. I used Maxell 4X and Verbatim 2.4X and both have worked with no problems. The memorex are not on RCA's recommended disks so I'll stay away from them.
