do I need hacked firmware to make the 16x DVD-Rom work at full speed? I'm sure if there is a video rip limit imposed on it like there was my ND-1300A

I have a Pioneer DVD-Rom that came with my computer and can rip at up to 10.8X and I didn't even upgrade my firmware. Try yours first w/o upgrading and see what happens.
