It has nothing to do with DVDDecrypter and everything to do with your drive/firmware. Your options are to either flash to a hacked firmware, or buy a dvd-rom drive that is not locked in at 2x. There's a slight risk that the hacked firmware could mess up your burner (I hacked my pioneer 105 and haven't had a single problems, but others will tell you differently), or the new dvd-rom will cost you $30 or so.

DVD-R drives are locked at 2x,it's normal. You need to buy a DVD-ROM for ripping. $35. will buy a good 16x DVD-Rom.

Also, don't forget that retail DVD-9's will only rip at around 7x, even with a 16x DVD-ROM, it has 2 layers to rip therefore it takes longer. DVD-5 retail discs rip quicker, sometimes hitting the full 16x but it rips most files so fast you don't really get to see the speed because it is already finished with certain files before DVD Decypter can detect the ripping speed.
But I would also get one to save the wear and tear from your burner.
