Is there a way to recover a lost paging file in Windows XP Home without doing a complete reinstall of Windows? I have completely lost mine somehow. It is set to the proper size so that is not the problem, the problem is "it is gone, lost somehow". Your advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

  2. If you delete your pagefile windows will create a new one every time. Just reboot your computer and it will fix it. It's not really a "file" it's extended RAM so to speak. Virtual memory.

Thanks 808smokey for the info and reply. That being the case I still have a paging file problem that perhaps you may be able to answer for me. When I reboot and get to welcome screen I then click on my name, it then starts "loading my personal settings". Problem is it takes about 15 minutes to "load my personal settings" before I get a desktop screen. I get error message stating "no paging file or paging file too small and it gives me directions on how to reset my paging file to a larger size. I did this exactly per instructions and it still takes 15 minutes to go from "loading personal settings" to desktop screen. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
