Is it possible to normalize the audio portion of a clip within VirtualDub or it's variants? Would really be convenient if I could direct stream the video and full process normalize the audio!

I have way too many clips requiring normalizing to even begin contemplating demuxing/normalizing/muxing. V'Dubs volume adjust would also require sampling each clips level as they are all different...another time prohibitive option.

To my knowledge, no. Wish I were wrong.

I may have an idea. Will alll the vidoe clips be part of one or several videos when you are done?
    Hello.

teegee420 - Thanks, pretty much what I was believing.

tommyknocker - Unfortunately...No. All these clips (over 600) are completely different and will remain independent.

Btw, doing a search over at Doom9's forum I see where about a year ago someone started a thread asking about this option and even hinting that they may write code or a filter to perform this within V'Dub. Sadly though I can find no evidence that they carried through.

Oh well. I was thinking, there is a normalize filter in AviSynth, which can be run in Virtual Dub. What do you think?

Hmmm, that just may be an option as it does reduce the workload quite a bit as opposed to the demuxing/normalizing/muxing method!

With egg on my face I will admitt that all these clips were encoding using AviSynth/VirtualDubMod...all the while overlooking the option of normalizing in AviSynth! About two weeks ago I finally smartened up, realized my idocy, and began normalizing in AviSynth. Unfortunately I've accumulated a backlog of the non-normalized clip that still need processing. Guess I had better get to work!

    Very much appreciate your input.
