Hello,
I am trying to convert my 8mm videos to DVDs. When I connect my digital video camera to the pc with a Firewire card I can see the video but not the sound. I just can't figure out how to get the audio too.
I've looked at the help/tutorials/newsgroups etc on this site, on ULead's site, read the manuals... and still I can't figure it out. It's probably something REALLY simple that I've missed but I just can't figure it out.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Here is what I'm using:
- AMD Athlon XP 2700+
- 1GB memory
- 300GB hard drive space
- ATI All-in-Wonder 7500 card
- 1394 FireWire card
- Win XP Professional
- ULead's DVD Workshop (trial version)
- Sony Digital Video Camera

Don't worry. You have the audio but you won't hear it while capturing. Try to capture a short clip and play it back, you have the audio. It happened to me the first time I was capturing via a firewire card too.

Oh man!! Do I feel stupid now. I never played it back. What confused me was that when I captured the tv input from my ATI card I could also hear the sound while capturing.
Thanks a LOT! You wouldn't believe how much time I've wasted on this. -
One more question. If it's not appropriate to include it in this thread please let me know and I'll create a separate one.
I can hear the sound now when I play it back but it sounds very tinny . I saw some other posts on this forum when I searched for tinny sound that mentioned problems related to the line-in jack. I have unplugged the cable going to my line-in jack and tried again. same result.
Can anyone give me some idea of what else I can try to get rid of the tinny sound?
Thanks!! -
Try this:
Open up your volume control.
Click on the menu option "Options"
Select Properties in the submenu
Click on Recording
Then Press the OK button
Now turn up the control you want more volume from. -
Thanks. It turned out the tinny sound was due to a configuration setting in the on-board audio of my motherboard.
I have a GigaByte motherboard with on-board sound. I ended up having to go into the configuration and change sound-effects to (none).
Thanks again for the feedback. I may actually get some of these videos converted to DVDs in time for Christmas morning.
Happy Holidays! -
