can I capture audio from my line in in vitrual dub or do I have to plug it into my microphone to record audio??

You should probably use the line in input unless you're using a microphone for 2 reasons. First, most microphone ports are mono. Second, microphone ports usually use a +20db boost, which will clip most other audio sources such as cd, tape, and dvd players.
