Did some looking but couldnt find anything on this. Directv has some of thier ppv channels that are dd 5.1 encoded. I have a regular reciever not dolby digital and I have canopus advc-100. Will the canopus capture the ac3 encoded audio from the sat? if so what do I need to do next if I want to burn to dvd and enjoy the dolby digital sound?Thanx in advace..

    p.s.

i use to have a winnov videum 1000+ capture card. its alot more work to get a capture as good as you get with the advc-100.any body on the fence i would defintly spend the bucks and get the advc-100. the ease of use alone is worth it. plus very little cpu useage to allow you the freedom to multi-task without destroying your capures....

  2. not with the advc-100, no. the only audio that the device is capable of capturing is 2-channel stereo audio from RCA or 3.5mm cables.

if you want to capture the ac3 audio you may be able to do it with an optical cable running from the directtv box to an optical input on a sound card. this then brings up all sorts of sync issues because you have to edit the resulting wav files - which won't be included in the same .avi that your video stream is in.
