    DVDDecryptor supports 4 different layers to access your DVD drives. Get the latest ASPI drivers and you should be fine (search the adaptec site).

    If you mean CD/DVD drives you may want to look for updated ASPI drivers.

    Just a thought, good luck.

  5. 1) Try Nero's aspi layer ftp://ftp.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll

    Reboot and try again.

    2) If things are still not working try Adaptec's version 4.60
    http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?filekey=aspi32.exe

    Reboot and try again.

    If tbis fails, you can either try ForceASPI
    http://clonecd.gearhost.net/clonecd/forceASPI17.zip

    or, if using XP or 2000, check that you do not have a drive
    assignment problem - a condition which can occur if a new
    ide device is installed after windows has already been setup

  6. thanks for the quick responses and i've tried all of the aspi updates with no luck. do i need to locate the nero driver in a specific location after install?

    one thing i've just noticed about my system is - I've asked it to auto detect dvd's on startup and it won't

    using win/98

    thanks

  8. This error message can appear if in the Nero directory you can find the Nero-ASPI driver WNASPI32.DLL and in the Windows\System \IOSUBSYS directory the file NEROAPIX.VXD is missing.

    copy the missing NEROAPIX.VXD into the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory
    or delete the file WNASPI32.DLL from the Nero directory.

    You may be lacking/requiring a file named "winaspi.dll" (different than "winaspi32.dll). " - If so, you need to place it in the Windows/System (NOT System32) directory...

    If things are still not working (assuming XP)- go to start, right click on my computer,
    left click on properties, select hardware tab, click on device manager, double click on CD/DVD drives and highlight your dvd drive. Then select to remove it & reboot. Now download a copy of Nero and install it. Reboot and things should now work.

    (for ME, 98, 95 - just go to control panel, double click on system, and
    follow the above steps as from the device manager position)

  9. How do I quickly locate the NEROAPIX.VXD file - it's not there. I'm not actually using any Nero programs, only have tried to download the aspi fix.

    thanks -

    Using nero is just a quick and dirty way to help fix the type
    of problems you seem to be having. Nero comes with
    it's own special kind of software to allow your DVD and
    windows to talk. The very best way to fix your problem is
    a little complicated and time consuming for me to type out;
    so I'm hoping a quick fix will help.

    Download a free trial copy of nero and install it. This will
    do most of the work outlined in the previous msg for you ..but the download
    size is fairly hefty (20+ megs)

  11. This forum Rocks!!!

    everything now works like a champ - in the end the fix that solved my problems was re-installing the dvd drives (again) after installing the needed software.

    Thanks to everyone
