For 2,000 bucks, I would pobably get the Cannon GL2. If you want to save some money, I'd get the Panasonic DV-593. It's a 3-CCD camcorder that has a 3 Megapixel still image capture. It shoots as well as the Cannon in good lighting, but not in bad.

It's also the camcorder that I've got and I can tell you, it is a nice camcorder. It is also about $1,000 cheaper.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  3. If you could get just a bit more cash----- Panasonic AG-DVX100 http://royalcamera.com/panag.html

But since you're on a budget, yea the Canon GL2. It's a nice camera too. http://www.digitalliquidators.com/detail.asp?id=cngl2&l=google

  4. The new MiniDV Sony DCR-PC330 looks pretty sweet. It has 3.3 mega-pixel stills and will fit in a pocket. I've seen it online for <$1300.
Heres a good review of it:

You ride trail or track? I ride mountain trails(CR500).

Whatever you do, go for a 3CCD miniDV model since you've got the budget.

You may want to check www.DV.com for serious advice and reviews.
