  1. I used Tmpgenc Plus to encode an avi file to Mpeg-2 and the resulting mpeg-2 file had no audio. The original avi file has AC3 5channel audio.

Do I need to extract the audio first and then link it when wuthoring the dvd?? I used Tmpgenc DVD author to create the video and audio folders and convert the Mpeg-2 file.

What method should I follow to deal with avi files with AC3 audio in order to keep the AC3 audio on the final DVD.

You don't have to encode again, just use your mpg and select the ac3 source in tmpgenc dvd author.
