An odd occurrence - I removed a working Pioneer DVD ROM from my HP computer running windows XP home (it came with it) and moved it to another computer running windows 98SE. I installed it at the same time as installing a replacement CDRW. While cds could be read in the pioneer, after reading, the tray would not open - as if some software glitch had taken control of it. I ultimately removed it.

What would cause this? The only think I can think of (and have not tested) is that the CDRW that I installed was not recognized by the Roxio Direct CD that runs in the background and that difficulty was shown by a red slash through the tray icon. I had to download an upgrade to Easy CD creator 5.45 to get the burner to be recognized by the software. Could the direct cd affect the dvd rom?
