  1. Even though the audio is fine before converting, it comes out as though the audio is clipped around the mid frequencies giving the speech an annoying metallic sound. I've noticed the is no longer an option for selecting 224kbps / 44.1KHz. There used to be. I don't know. Could be to do with Win XP.
    Any help would be mighty appreciated!

  2. I've just tried toolame but after creating the temporal wave file, TMPG says 'error decoding audio' or 'error writing stream' depending which version I try. Am I missing something?

    What is your audio source? If it is a compressed file, decompress it first with VirtualDub. From the FAQ:

    first select File->Open Video File to open the video and last select File->Save WAV. If it's a DivX or ASF you maybe want to convert the audio to WAV PCM then select Uncompressed PCM under Audio->Compression and be sure to select Audio->Full Processing before saving
