Hello all, great site, I have learned lots from here but obviously not enough as I am struggling at the moment.
I am trying to put some SVCDs on DVDr using the following method.
    1. Extract the MPEG with isobuster
    2. Demultiplex with TMPEG plus
    3. Convert the audio to 48khz with besweet
    4. Multiplex the new files
    5. Change headers with DVD patcher
    6. Then i want to author with TMPEG author
but it always moans about incorrect GOP length and will not let me continue, even if i click ignore.
I would appreciate your knowldgeable input on this one, and sorry if i have missed something simple here.
    Thanks in advance people......

    Hi Bricktop,

    This...

"Max. frames in GOP - 15 (for PAL) or 18 (for NTSC)

These are the standard DVD limits. This option is not present in older versions of TMPGEnc. If you're using one of those versions, you will need to control the number of frames using only the three previous settings. If a GOP has more frames than the standard allows, authoring programs will usually reject the file, and some players will not be able to play it."

...is taken from the following guide on the settings for DVD compliant MPEG2 using the encoder TMPGEnc.

    Guide: http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html

I'm not familiar with the tools you're using, and never needed to amend the number of frames in a GOP (post encoding) so can't comment how to go about it. But I hope it points you in the right direction.

    Good luck...

Just letting Daamon know I have got around the problem by using ulead movie factory instead of tmpg author as no matter what i tried tmpg continually found problems with my gop length. Whereas ulead seems to be happy and does not give any warnings. Also gives nice results.
So thanks for your replies mate, much appreciated.!

    Pleasure.

Glad you got it cracked - even if it means using another tool. Still, as long as you're happy.

    Have good'un.
