    I don't want to install a codec pack because it messed up my system a couple od times. I dl a lot of movies and most of them I can't play right now. Can someone please tell me which codecs I need to get to play movies.

    Once the movie is loaded on your system, use GSpot to tell you what codec you need for that particular movie.

    I checked one of the movies with gspot and it says I need Xvid. I checked on the page with codecs and found xvid codec https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=190#comments
    is there a difference between Koepi's and Nic's codec

    Not to my knowledge. You can try them one a t a time and see which one works for you.

    One at a time? How do you unistall them after installing them. Not just these 2 specifically, but in general how can you check which codecs are on your system & then remove all that you dont need ( I'm getting another pink screen issue that won't quit)

    You uninstall them from the hardware device manager.
