  1. Hi, I'm trying to burn a photo slideshow vcd using VCDEasy 1.1.5.2 and get the error message "directory section too big for a vcd" during the build phase, yet the total estimated size of the content is only 550 mb. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Also, the program crashes my computer...just shuts it down suddenly without any error messages or warnings. Is this due to a bug or an inappropriate ASPI driver?

    Thanks.

Never had this prob, but to me, it sounds like you're trying to put too many mpegs on the VCD...

  3. the total number of pictures I'm trying to include is 1,750. At max quality, this yields a total size of about 550 mb, so this shouldn't be a problem, as far as disk space. Is there some other limitation I'm overlooking?

Depends on how you're authoring, but I believe there's a 99 tracks limitation. If you author each img as one track...

  5. Can I use chapters or some other technique to burn 1,750 pics on one vcd (i.e. splitting them up into chapters or segments)?

Yes, that's the way to go. As space wasn't an issue to me, I authored a regular VCD with Ulead Video Studio that turned out pretty good. (VCD res was OK, since I had taken the pics with my cell phone.)
Then you get 80 min as usual, and if you give each pic 10 s duration, it's about 480 pics each CD.
There are apps that lower the bit rate to allow more pics/CD (stills don't require much bit rate!) Take a look under the DVD/VCD Picture Tools left.
