I want to rip a small portion of a dvd I have, just the audio portion, and convert it to midi. Basically there's a sound from a movie I want as a cellphone ring tone and I can't figure out how. Thanks for your help.

(Nearly) Impossible. There are a few (very rudimentary) stabs at wav to MIDI applications, but they are all severly limited, like "one instrument, monophonic" audio.
For audio from a movie, I'd say: forget it before event thinking about it. Try to find the music as a ready made MIDI, that's your only option if you can't compose it yourself, using some MIDI editor.
