I extracted the disc using DVDDecryptor in file mode into a folder. First method was using DVDShrink to compress it down to 4.3G then tried burning with Nero. Nero spits out a log which ends with

2nd method is using Pinnacle Instant Copy. But I get:
An error occured while writing track 1 at position 0.

Is anyone familiar with what that means?
Btw, I successfully copied with DVDXCOPY. Unfortunately, it forces a 2-disc set.
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks all.

I don't use DVDshrink but with Pinnacle's instant copy...don't burn with it...it sucks (IMO).
Take the compressed DVD now in PDI files, use pdi2iso to convert them to a single ISO file and burn it with DVD Decrypter.
I've never tried burning DVD video with nero, although many on here do and say it works just fine, but to me, I create an ISO file to check it with Daemon Tools before burning anyway so burning it with Decrypter is just easier.
It sounds to me like nero and IC just don't like your burner. If you got it done with DVDxCopy then the burner works fine. -
I use DVDShrink or InstantCopy to omit/compress certain tracks or unwanted features on the disc. Would I be able to do that w/ pdi2iso? What's the difference between ifo or iso files anyway? Is it correct to extract in file mode with DVDdecryptor? I wasn't sure.
I have successfully copy using DVDdecryptor and InstantCopy in the past. Just recently I've been getting errors and thought it's something that can be cured. -
What's the difference between ifo or iso files
Iso is an ISO9660 file system as one file. Such a beast can be transfered to a writable medium like CD-R or DVD+/- R, as ISO file system is what's expected on such a disc. ISO files are often called CD/DVD images. In other words: ifo and iso has absolutely nothing to do with eachother.

I mis-understood your original post...you have used them before and they worked but cannot use them now...
Something like that usually means that your system has changed. Have you added any software....windows update...do you have a virus? Are you burning with Anti-virus program running?
Have you tried re-installing Nero and Instant Copy? OR uninstalling and re-installing your DVD-RW drive?
Are you 100% sure the disc is blank? (I know obvious but sometimes when burning to a DVD-RW the drive will see files even when you have erased it)
Have you tried cussing and throwing stuff?(won't fix problem, but could make you feel better)
I would un-install the software and then delete the drive and re-install all 3, drive first then software. The problem is a software problem and I really think my method of creating an ISO file and burning with DVD Decrypter will work for you especially since you did burn with DVDxCopy.
And like "mats" said -
a IFO file is a DVD structure file which is read by your DVD player so that your DVD player plays your VOB files in the correct order, shows the proper menu, and the rest of the navigation of a DVD.
a ISO file is an image file that can be created to burn anything to a disc. You can think of an ISO almost like a suitcase. A ISO is a single file that contains a single or a group of other files to be burned. -
Smells like an ASPI layer issue, try the latest ASPI drivers from adaptec? (yeah, we know you aren't using anything adaptec)

Thank you all. I will try to uninstall everthing. This will be the third install for Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD.
Regarding the ASPI layer according to Gazorgan, I noticed that an option in Instant Copy "programming interface type" is set to ASAPI instead of ASPI. What's the difference? -
Here's the update.
Installed ASPI 4.71.2 from Adaptec.
Uninstalled, reinstalled Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD.
Removed DVD RW drive from Device Manager.
Win2K reinstalls it.
Attempted but failed another burn session. Instant Copy spits out the same error message. So did Nero Express.
I'm hesitantly considering upgrading to XP Pro. Purely from the thought of reinstalling all those programs. Should I??? Will things run a lil smoother?
Thank you all for your input -
No! Things will not get better with XP. XP is mainly just W2k with lots of eye candy that bogs it down. To date, W2k Pro is the most stable OS that MS ever done. Stay with it (and do a clean install if you can't get it to work). If I'd known then what I know now, I'd never made that "upgrade" to XP...

Thanks for that info.
I still don't know why I get errors w/ Nero or Instant Copy. I can successfully burn with Pinnacle's Expression. Unfortunately, that program SUX. It develops ticks in the video. That's why I'm trying to author it through other means.
Also, does anyone know if TMPEnc Author compresses? Because it can create about 1.5 hrs of video and still not exceed a DVD's capacity. Yet Expression is limited to 1hr. @ 100%.
