  1. Hello,

I wanted to burn a MPG file that I joined with a software program other than TMPGEnc..and Whenever I enter it in my DVD Authoring program, either it says that the header is incorrect or the video (31 mins) will only be 5 mins long..any help is appreciated. thanks

    Hi ignignokt,

I'm no expert, but I've come across this myself and so hope to help a little (point you in the right direction hopefully).

I use TMPGEnc (I know you're not, but the principle must be the same) to encode DV AVI to MPG2 for DVD. On my first attempt, I had a headers problem and it turns out that each GOP (Group Of Pictures) needs something to identify it (sorry for the vagueness, but I don't know the detail).

    I used the following guide:

    http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html

...Yes, I know it's for TMPGEnc, but it may help. In there, it refers to "Output interval of header" - I'm wondering if this is the cause of your problem.

    Hope that helps...

Open TMPGEnc's mpeg tools, go to the multiplex tab, load in your file, select mpeg-2 program for type, select an output destination and name, hit run. It should correct the header.

  4. Thanks for the replies and suggestions but neither ones worked. it seems as though the when i orginally joined the files, it corrupted the headers and even TMPGEnc wont fix it. I will try to find the files again..thanks
