  1. Very early in the morning, I found that my DVD player will play 480x480 captures. The program I use to author DVDs won't accept it though, so I used DVD-Patcher to change the header of the MPG file to a DVD-compliant resolution.

Please -- If you have a couple extra minutes, please capture 5 minutes of video at 480x480, patch it, burn it, and play it in your DVD player and let me know the results. I'd also like someone to report whether an XBox or PS2 will play 480x480. Although we have both here, I doubt my DVD+R media would play in either.

I used the new ATI MMC 8.8 to record a few minutes of 480x480 mpg 2 at variable bitrate (4.5-5). I used DVDPatcher to change the header to 352x480. Then I used TMPGEnc DVD Author to create a dvd with a menu. I burned it onto a TDK DVD+RW using Nero 6.0 and it played back just fine in my XBOX. Just wanted to let you know.

  3. Bump.

Come on. Certainly my DVD player and the XBox aren't the only two players in the world that can play 480x480. Anyone else want to give it a try and report results?
