Does anyone have experience flashing new firmware into a Plextor 708A mounted in an external (Bytecc) case running firewire? I'd like to update the drive without removing it from the case and installing it as an IDE to do so.
Any experiences appreicated.

I have done firmware upgrades on both my Plexor 708A and a Pioneer A05, both mounted inside a firewire case. You should not have a problem doing this. What I do after the upgrade is completed is turn off the unit to make sure that the upgrade does work. Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch for the reply. I was pretty sure it should work, but wanted to hear someone else's experience before proceeding. I'll give it a try (v1.04 for the 708 just came out).
