    What's the difference between 80m mode-1 and 80m mode-2 - if any?
    Which one should I use?

  2. Mode 2 (form 2) has more room for data (2324 bytes per sector, 4500 sectors per minute) but it has no error correction, and must be used for VCD and SVCD (XA tracks).

Mode 1 has less room for data (2048 bytes per sector, 4500 sectors per minute) but has error correction and so should be used for DivX and any other data format intended for computer playback.

    Thank you for your response.

In this case; why in Quick Preset: SVCD, mode 80m mode-1 is automatically selected and not 80m mode-2?

  4. The media type is not set by Quick presets, but it could be a good idea to add auto-setting.

Yes it would (and add this information to your SVCD guide. ; )

    Hi there,

Where is the setting to have ffmpegX output as mode 2 (when using SVCD preset)? The only option containing mode 2 I can see is in the bitrate calculator - is that the one? For some reason I thought everything in the bitrate calculator box had no effect on the encoding...

    Thanks!

  7. It is that one, and it has indeed no effect on encoding. However, it will affect how auto-split will cut the output mpg to fit into either a mode-1 or mode-2 sized CD.

Thanks for the reply Major. Sorry I didn't thank you earlier - I somehow forgot I had posted it!
