  1. I've come up with a way that I think I can actualy get better picture quality out of many dvds. I can't unfortuantely get the dts file. I would love to get started on my ULTRA LOTR box set. So far the test are amazing.

Use a program called "Virtual Dub" to rip any audio channels you want. If also if you want, pick up another great program called "BeSweet" if you want to downmix the 5.1 surround audio data to stereo data for burning to a music CD or whatever.

  3. In addition, VOBrator can rip the DTS track to PCM. DVDDecryptor can rip the video and the DTS track only - so that is what is played when
you remux. There are quite a few programs out there depending exactly
what you want to do - i.e keep the original DTS, downmix etc. Keep in
mind that DTS makes for a fairly large audio track - between 720 meg and
1.5 gig depending on the bitrate, for an "average" movie.

I use DvdShrink & Instant copy to keep copies of most of my DTS
DVD's. If I really need the quality of a CCE re-encode, I use Surcode
and Adobe Audition to muck around with DTS.
