I have some Vob files that are 25fps pal format and are interlaced. When I encode them to VCD there is a shadow type effect so I used the deinterlacer function in tmpgenc and set it to even field. This eliminated the shadow effect but in turn introduced a juddery effect on paning scenes or slight motion.
I've posted similar messages and never had a straight answer so can anyone help PPPPLLLLEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEE!!!!!!!
Cheers.

I know people say to choose EVEN or else ODD, BUT, those
choises never work for me. I always chose BLEND only,
and this always works for me. When viewing these selections,
and you play your preview (clicking right cursor), selecting
EVEN seems to show the clearest picture, but after encoding
with that choice, it's harible and NEVER looks clear, as it did
in preview mode. Course, you source has to be pretty clean
too. Mine is. Satalete.
Oh, I ment while in the Advanced TAB, double click DeInterlace
and, the rest you already know.
MY recommendation is to always use BLEND. In version 12 it's
called BLEND, but I noticed in other versions it's not there... or
maybe under another name, I just don't remember. -
Come on people someone must know the answer. How do i eliminate the Shadow effect and jittery video problem?
Cheers. -

I don't know what you mean by the "shadow effect", so I can't answer that. The jittery video is caused by using the wrong field order during encoding - you're seeing a "frog climbing out of the well" effect, ie. two moves forward, one move back...
There's no way to know the right order before you start encoding, so if it turns out jittery just change to the other field ordering. I normally do a quick, low quality encode of the first minute or so, just to check that I have field order right.

When I say shadow effect I mean something like a ghosting effect tho this is gone when I use the Deinterlacer but then I have the problem of jittery picture even when i change the field order.
There must be some experts out there that can help me?
Cheers.
