Ulead mpeg 2 conversion

For some reason, all of a sudden, the quality of the files from .avi to mpeg 2 using ulead has gone down - and in size, it's gone down from 3gb to 2gb.

What can I do to get it back?

Check you project settings and make sure the quality setting has not been adjusted.

How do I set it to the highest quality?

Put your cursor over it and right click and select Higher Priority.

Or, is it 8000?

Also, should I choose stereo or join stereo?

6000kbs is the defualt in Ulead MS7 for DVD Mpeg2. Change it to a higher rate (8000+ or so) in your project settings or when you render. If you also capture to MPEG2 then change it there also so when you Smart render it will not have to convert again.
