hi aLL! b4 i use to do 1hour avi home videos and covert it to mpeg for burning as xvcd and took only 2 to 3hours... not that long... nway..

    i use my laptop... 1.6 P4, 256ddr, 20gig...

my brother downloaded this cartoon movie from kazaa... its like almost two hours.. and the file in avi is 180mb and so i thought it would'nt take long... but then.. when i waked up n da morning it was still doing it! its was 56% already and it would be a waste to stop it.. so i just left it alone..now its finally finished! after 20hours! now the avi file that was 180mb is now 800something... is this normal?

cuz b4 my avi home video was bigger than it was when converted to mpeg.

    thanks.

  4. That does sound like a long time for the conversion.

As for filesize, all that matters is the length of the video, and the bitrate (i.e. how compressed the file is).

MPEG files may be more, or less, compressed than an avi file - it just depends on what bitrate is used.

avi's are typically more compressed than mpg files (because codecs like DivX etc.. work with higher compression than MPEG-1 and -2), but this isn't always the case. You can't generalise about it really.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

  5. 810mb may not be too big to burn on an 80min CD as a VCD.

Try using VCDEasy to author the VCD as a bin/cue image first, then use your burning app (e.g. Nero) to burn the image to a CD.

    cheers,
