So I get this call from a lady who thinks she knows alot about her Mac, and she will not stop talking long enough to ever actually do anything or find anything out about her problem, then her phone give out. YAY!

I turn to my co worker (only other mac tech here tonight) and say Enjoy the call your going to get. I give you how he handled her. Its only the end of the call however.

Well her orignal actual PROBLEM was she was an OS9 users who switched to OSX and cannot find the chooser... which makes since because OSX doesn't have one. All we really needed to do was remind her just in case that we do not do Networking support then quickly tell her to click GO then connect to server. But she would not stop talking. And she would come up with all sorts of other problem that usually were not even problem as she went along.

Between the 2 of us we spoke to this woman at least 45min total and barely got her to click on Go, little less the rest of it.

Brings back fond memories of a tech support call I heard a friend tell me about once...The guy called in because the "mug holder" broke and he wanted a replacement...seems he used his cd-rom tray as a cupholder...

Indeed, some people really can't be helped.

  5. Ya some people are just helpless. Its too bad you can't just tell people like that off. But then you would get fired. I honestly would have just started to laugh or something at her..........but your buddy did the right thing by telling her she could talk to a supervisor or something.

Just starts cussing at the end..........hahahahah.

Yeah about the cussing. We have this call because one of our mentors broke in when he heard him having issues with the customer. Until today we never realized that when the customer hangs up it still records several seconds... they likely have recording of me saying things that would make a sailor blush.

What she needs to is put it back in the box it came in. Then get back to using pen and paper. I can't stand people that won't shut up long enough to listen.

You know, just to be fair I think she just wanted to know the reagion he lived in, not an address. Such as "I live in Seattle" or something similar. Maybe to talk about the weather to lighten the mood. I get that occationally when I make calls to my company's customers. It just sounded bad when she said it because she was frustrated.

But I can seriously empathize with you. Today I had a 80 minute confrence call with a customer that felt it was more productive to spew out a string of vulgar words than listen to what everyone was saying.
